Topic Fourteen (2010/12/13~2010/12/20):  Mistery of the lost brother, Joseph?

Being his father's favorite child in the family, Joseph was sold to Egypt by his elder brothers.  What might be the reason(s) that led to this tragedy?

Discussion topic:
Should Josoph be responsible for his own misfortune?  Or, should his elder brothers be blamed for the evil doing?

Topic Thirteen: Women in the Old Testament

Topic Thirteen (2010/12/6~2010/12/13):  What are the roles played by women in the Old Testament?

Monotheism and patriarchy were established in the age of The Old Testament. In this social structure, what roles did women normally play?

Discussion topic:
Please raise an example and point out the significance of this woman in the Biblical tradition.

For example, Eve is the first woman. She was created from a part of Adam.  She was taught to be submissive and loving to her husband.  However, she possessed a weakness in her character, i.e., vanity, that had caused the betrayal to God's order and led to the great fall of humanity into mortality and catastrophies.  Eve in the BIblical tradition is like Pandora in Greek mythology:  The woman's curiosity and vanity have caused human race a lot of troubles.

Topic Twelve: The Holy Jerusalem

Topic Twelve (2010/11/29~2010/12/6):  Why is Jerusalem called "The City of Heaven"?

In "Jerusalem: City of Heaven" (Discovery Channel: 1999), a historical sketch of the holy city of Jerusalem highlights the zenith importance of this city to three groups of religous believers:  the Jewish people, the Christians, and the Muslims.

For the past two thousand years, these different groups of people have fought against one another in competition to get control over Jerusalem, and tragedies  happen over and over again.

Religous masters teach people to love others and to co-exist in peace.  However,  the political situations in the middle East have been in turmoil, and hatred grows with the years.

There is a saying:  "Among the ten beauties on Earth, Jerusalem possesses nine of them; among the ten vices on Earth, Jerusalem also possesses nine of ten."

Duscussion topics:
(1) Why is it that the most beautiful and the most vicious exist at the same time in Jerusalem?
(2) Do you think there is a way to make different enthnic groups living in/around Jerusalem reach a peace agreement?

Topic Eleven: Moses and His Miracles

Topic Eleven  (2010/11/22~2010/11/29):  Why is it so important to prove that Moses really existed and his miracles truely happened?

In "Who Was Moses?" (Discovery Channel: 2000), the narrator endeavored to find scientific evidence to prove that the events recorded in the Old Testament were true and that Moses really existed in history.

In the Chinese article cited bellow, there displays another modern effort to recreat the crucial scene in the Exodus in scientific experiment.

Discussion topic:

Why is it so important to show that Moses was a real person and the miracles he performed could really happen in reality?
