Please pick one person from the following list and elaborate on the reasons why he/she is your choice of the most unforgetable character in the story of the Helen of Troy.

3. Two brothers: Agamemnon (King of Mycenae) and Menelaus (becoming King of Sparta after marrying Helen)

I think Hector is the most unforgetable character in the story of the Helen of Troy.
Hector is the heroic prototype of loyalty, responsibility, and peace.First, his loyalty is manifested by his perseverance to fight for his country. Although he knows so well about the certainty of his death in the battle, he barely stands out to protect his Troy. Second, Hector is a responsible husband and father. His responsibility can be reflected by his interaction with family. Most importantly, Hector is the enbodiment of peace. Bravely as he fights, he fights reluctantly. War, for him, is a necessary evil. His aspiration for peace is shown in the scene where he thinks nostalgically of the peaceful past and the background against which he stands, the patterns of civilized life. Therefore, the three characteristics of Hector's make him the most unforgetable character in the story of the Helen of Troy.

ReplyDeleteI think Clytemnestra is the most unforgetable character in the story.
Since we saw the movie in the class before, I think that Clytemnestra expresses a kind of envy to her sister, Helen. But she still loves Helen and be kind to Helen. When Helen is punished by their father, she even tried to help her get through difficulties. And the most unforgetable thing is that Clytemnestra killed her husband,Agamemnon because he killed their daughter in order to please the Gods.
Hello, Vinia. I am Emma Chang, 99540316.
ReplyDeleteI would choose Helen to share my opinions.
She is the most beautiful woman in the world and actually she is also the victim of a game playing by those goddess. Helen may have her own destiny if she did not be given to Paris as a gift. Besides, I am very impressive on the plot that she wears nothing but still having the encouragement to walk in fornt of those heros. Helen even makes up her mind to run away with Paris who is now her ture love chosen by Aphrodite. What's more, she is the most important character in this story for she is the excuse for the war. Therefore, I think that Helen is the most unforgetable character in the story of the Helen of Troy.
Hi, Vinia. I am Daisy. (99540342)
ReplyDeleteI would like to talk about my favorite character, Hector.
Hector was Trojan prince. I think that he was more noble than the Achilles, who was prideful and arrogant, was the champion of the Greeks besieging Troy in the Trojan War. Hector is an honest, responsible, broad-minded and loves his family and country. He knew that his coward and spoiled brother had done the big terrible disaster. He didn’t blame him instead he took the responsibility and led the troop to protect their country, Troy. “Honor The Gods, Love Your Woman, and Defend Your Country. Troy is mother to us all. Fight for her!” These words really touch my heart. He is so honest and brave hero in my mind.
Hi, Vinia. I’m Emma. My ID number is 99540341.
ReplyDeleteI think that the most of unforgettable character in the story of the Helen of Troy is Agamemnon. Agamemnon is king of Mycenae. He has a younger brother, Menelaus. After Menelaus married with Helen, Menelaus became the king of Sparta. But when Paris robbed Helen, Menelaus decided to take Helen back. Actually, Agamemnon didn’t want to help his brother. He just used this chance to attack Troy and he wanted to be king of Sparta. He was filled with ambition. But if he wanted to attack Troy, he had to kill his daughter. And he really killed his daughter. He abandoned his daughter because he wanted authority and power. He just considered himself. I think that it is the reason why Agamemnon is the most unforgettable character for me.
Hello, Vinia, I am 99540327 Dorris.
ReplyDeleteTo me, Agamemnon is the most unforgettable person.
I have never been thinking that a man will kill his daughter!
All he did was just for having the wind to make the ship could move.
In my opinion, it’s very horrible and it’s too ridiculous to accept.
I think that he could not sacrifice her child to be sacrifice.
So Agamemnon deserved his punishment.
He was murdered by his wife, Clytemnestra, and Aegisthus.
These parts of the story gave me a great impression and shock.
So Agamemnon could be the most unforgettable character to me.
Hello, Vinia. I'm Apple Huang. 99540317
ReplyDeleteI think that Agamemnon is the most unforgettable person in this film.
Because his brother,Menelaus, can get Helen to become his wife, he was filled with jealousy.
After Helen ran away with Paris, Menelaus was very mad at him so he decided to have a war with Troy.
Menelaus asked her brother,Agamemnon, to help him destroy Troy , but Agamemnon told him that if he wanted him to help, he should make him become the King of Sparta.
Menelaus was willing to do so, so they prepared for the war. What's worse, the wind was bad for them to go to Troy.
Killing Agamemnon's daughter is the only way to change the wind's direction.
To my surprise, Agamemnon decided to kill her daughter.
I think it's not worth killing his own daughter only to change the wind's direction.
It's miserable and teriible for a father.

ReplyDeleteI think Achilles is the most unforgettable character in the story of Helen of Troy. Why the Greek would win in the end? In my opinion, I think most of the reason is that because Greek has this hero --- Achilles. Achilles is the one, who is good at fighting and because of him; therefore, when the enemy heard of his name, they would start to afraid of him and had the idea of running away instead of killing by Achilles. Moreover, he cared about his friend very much and when he heard the death of his friend, Patroclus, he killed Hector, who killed his friend, for revenge without hesitation.
Hello, Vinia. I'm Justin 99540307.
ReplyDeleteI think I would choose Iphigeneia as the most unforgettable role in Helen of Troy. Although her parents didn't get along with each other, they still loved Iphigeneia, their dear daughter. She is naive and innocent and she deeply believed that their parents would always do good things for her. However, we all knew that Agamemnon, the little girl’s dad, sacrificed her in order to gain the help from the wind. It is the most unforgettable part for me because the feeling of sorrow hurt my heart harshly. I think Iphigeneia’s innocence reminded me of the cruelty of war. We couldn’t always think of the glory of war because there were countless people sacrificed during the process.
Hello, Prof Vinia, I'm Johnny 99540311
ReplyDeleteI would like to talk about the king of Mycenae,Agamemnon,
I think he is the most unforgettable person in this film.
he has a younger brother, Menelaus.
Menelaus married with Helen,
and he became the king of Sparta.
But the Agamenon didnt like this !! He wants to be the king of Sparta.
unluckily , Paris robbed Helen,
Menelaus decided to take Helen back.
Actually, Agamemnon didn’t want to help his brother.
All he want's is the chance to attack Troy and the king of Sparta.
He and his force was ready to move , but the wind's direction cant help them move,
I can't believe the god want his daughter to exchange the wind direction,
He killed his daughter because he wanted authority and power.
I have never seen such a father will kill his daughter!
I can't accept it . I think he can't even have a qualification to be a father !!
Hi, I'm Neo 98540451.
ReplyDeleteI want to talk about Hector. He's really a impressive role in Homer's Iliad.
Hector, tamer of horses, the commander on the Trojan side, the son of Priam and Hecuba, is a heroic prototype of nobleness, gentleness, loyalty and reponsibility. His personality defines him as a "norm" for Homeric society. He fights bravely but reluctantly; war for him, is a necessary evil. He says, "War shall be the concern of Men." For instance, he fights for his country even though he knows he will die in the battle, which show his patriotism and social morality. Besides, his peace-loving nature is emphasized by the tenderness of the relations with his wife Andromache and his son Astyanax, and also by his kindness to Helen. And he is a good example of an ideal Homeric man. Moreover, in the characters of Achilles and Hector, there exists a contrast between destructive and constuctive instincts, which creates a tragic tension in their mortal combat.
Hi, Vinia,I'm Mina 99540346.
ReplyDeleteThe Most Unforgetable Character I'd like to talk about in the Story of “Helen of Troy” is Hector. He is so impressive to me because I think he is brave when he has to fight with Achilles. He doesn't run away but he accepts his destiny and faces his death boldly!
Besides he is a home-loving man and he is capable of dealing with wars. And he is a leader, but he is easy to get along with. These reasons overthrows what I think of him originally; as a result, he is the most impressive character that makes a mark in my mind!!
I’m Grace Wei, 99540334.
ReplyDeleteHelen was the daughter of Zeus and Leda, daughter of king Tyndareus, wife of Menelaus and sister of Castor, Polydeuces and Clytemnestra. She was the most beautiful girl in the world. Besides, I appreciate that she was brave to face any challenge and she had a pure heart to be loved. I think that’s why she was so charming that no man could resist her beauty and wanted to protect her and marry Helen.
Hello, Vinia. I'm Jane, 99540347.
ReplyDeleteI think the most unforgettable person for me is Agamemnon.
Agamemnon envied his brother Menelaus very much because he got married with Helen. But indeed Helen loved Paris rather than the two brothers, so she ran away with Paris. And that made Menelaus very angry, so Menelaus decided to make war on Troy. Agamemnon agreed to help Menelaus get his wife back, but Menelaus should help him to be the king of Sparta. However, the wind was at the wrong direction, and only kill his daughter can change the wind direction. And I can’t believe that he did kill his daughter just for the wind direction that the ship can sail to Troy. I think it is inhuman that a father kills his daughter. That’s why I will never forget this character.
Hi, Vinia. I'm Betty, 99540322.
ReplyDeleteHector is abosolutely the most unforgetable character in the story of the Helen of Troy.
Without a doubt, he is a great hero who faces his death bravely.
He knows he would definitely be killed by Achilles, but he still goes out, facing challenges like he feared nothing at all.
I think that his courage and self-sacrifice spirit is very respectable.
Also, he is a wise man, forseeing the destruction of Troy and the miserabele fate of his wife.
How hard could it be for a man to leave his wife and child taking his destiny for his country so calmly?
Maybe only Hector can do it!
Hello,Vinia I'm Rebecca 99540309
ReplyDeleteI think Agamemnon is the most unforgettable character in the Helen of Troy because he killed his own daugher just in order to please the god.
It's beyond my imagination that a father can sacrifice his beloved daughter to exchange victory. I think family is the top priority no matter what happens. How can he be so cruel and violent? Maybe in his mind, victory is everything. To win a victory, he can do everything to extremes. I despise this kind of selfish person. No wonder he was murdered by his wife finally. He deserved it!
My student ID is 99540338.
ReplyDeleteI choose Hellen, the most beautiful girl in the world. The reason is that because of her beauty, the war exploed. Her beauty is so fatal that lots of kings can forgive their contry, even fight with their relatives. Is she quilty for his beauty?
Hello! Vinia! I am Sam. Student ID is 97350314!
ReplyDeleteI would like to talk about Agmemnon.
He is the brother of Menalous, king of Argos, was the chief of the Greek Army. His seizure of Briseis makes Achilles withdraw from the battle. The most impressive scene is that he is killed by his wife Clytemenstra for he sacrificed his eldest daughter to Artemis. I think how come he can do this cruel thing. He is too proud and arrogant. All the drawbacks can be indicated by him. That’s why I choose him as the most impressive character.
Hello, Vinia. I'm 99540302, Joyce.
ReplyDeleteI would like to talk about Achilles.
Agamemnon antagonizes Achilles, and Achilles sits out the fighting. At long last, revenge motivates Achilles to join the fray after his friend is killed by Hector. Achilles kills Hector and then dishonors the body by dragging it. The gods keep the corpse miraculously sound during this time. Then the father of Hector appealed to the better nature of Achilles, persuades him to return Hector's corpse to his family in Troy for proper funeral rites.

ReplyDeleteI think Aphrodite is the most unforgetable character in the story of "Helen of Troy." why is she the most unforgetable one? Because it is said by Greek that Aphrodite is the most beautiful goddess among those lust deities, which even surpass Helen of Troy. She was so beautiful that every man wanted to fuck her, including her stud father, Zeus, and me. Thus I think she is the most unforgetable character not only for me but also every man.
Hi, Vinia~ I am Susan 99540343
ReplyDeleteMy most unforgettable character in “Helen of Troy” is Helen. She is the most beautiful woman in the Greek counties. The most impressive part is when Helen knew she would cause the serious war between these counties. However, she still chose to go with Paris, who she loved because of Aphordite. She didn’t even know how is Paris, whether he is a good man or not. She accepted Paris and went away with him. I think she may be controlled by Aphordite. She couldn’t go with her decision but with her heart. Maybe she was not the one who cause the war, but the medium. Why everyone blamed her of her beauty to lead to the war? They knew the truth, right?
Hello, Vinia
ReplyDeleteI'm Helen and my student ID is 99540325.
I think Helen is the most unforgettable character in this movie.
Not only did she have a beautiful face but also the fate of her life.
I think she has some responsibility of the war Troy but if put all the blame on her is not quite right. She was asked to marry a guy who she didn’t love. It is poor for her. Finally she found the Mr. Right, Paris, but had to face the reality that all kings didn’t allow them to get together. All her life was controlled by others so I think she is unforgettable character because of her poor fate.
Hi Vinia, I am Yuka 99540352.
ReplyDeleteI think the most unforgettable characters in the story are Hector and Paris because they are such sharp contract of each other. Hector is considered the most virtuous hero of Ilad. He is courageous, strong, smart, peace-loving, loyal, noble, and without dark motivations. His brother Paris, on the other hand, is cowardly, weak, without principles and without honor. People praise Hector's courage as much as they despise Paris's dishonor. The fact that Paris gladly uses a bow and arrow was in sharp contrast with the heroes of his time. Ironically, it turned out that it is because of his choice of weapon, and his un-noble behavior to shoot from behind his enemy, that he was able to deal a fatal strike to Achilles, the most renowned Greek warrior; while, on the other hand, his brother Hector, who fought Achilles bravely, was killed and lynched mercilessly. The sharp contrast between the characteristics and the eventual ends of the brothers is an immaculate reflection of Greek tragedies.
Hi, I am Jessica 99540319
ReplyDeleteI think Agamenon is the most unforgettable characters among all. He was cunning and witty, he didn't give up easily, not until he finally reached his ultimate goal. For example, the wind was against them, while the troops were ready for Troy. Agamenon was informed that he had to sacrifice his daughter, so that the gods would be pleased, and therefore let them go to the battlefield. He was tormented by the news but he however agreed to do it, for he wanted something more than a happy family, he wanted glory and Troy. Had he not been murdered by his wife, he would still be a great king at that time.
Hi, Vinia. I’m Eva 99540321.
ReplyDeleteTo me, Hector is the unforgettable character in Helen of Troy. He is the Trojan prince and the greatest warrior in the war, a good son, husband and father. He dared to do what he decided to do, facing the difficulties courageously. I think he is really great because he not only cared about himself, but cared about others. When he knew that Troy may be destroyed, he told his wife the secret way, which she and the people could escape from. However, the most disappointing thing is that he was slew by Achilles. I believe he’ll be an excellent king definitely if he didn’t die so early.
Hello, Vinia
ReplyDeleteI am Amy. 99540348
I think Helen is the most unforgettable character in “Helen of Troy.”
She is the daughter of the mighty god – Zeus. She is not only the most beautiful woman in the world, but also the cause of the Troy War. In fact, I think she doesn’t mean to cause the tragedy. Every man wants to own her, but she falls in love with the prince – Paris. And the love relationship between them really impresses me. They fell in love with each other long time ago for seeing each other’s face in the water. This might be the destiny. They are doomed to fall in love with each other but sadly, they are doomed to end tragically. So I think Helen is the unforgettable person in the movie, and I like her a lot.
Hello, Vinia! I'm Avis, 99540335.
ReplyDeleteFor me, the most unforgettable figure in this soty is Clytemnestra. She is the wife of Agamemnon, the king of Mycenae. When knowing that her husband would sacrifice their daughter for the sailing, Clytemneatra was extremely indignant and upset. She wanted to take revenge on her husband. Beside, she killed Agamemnon and his mistress, Cassandra. She is the one that I was most impressive on in this movie.
Hi, Vinia. I’m Mavis 99540303.
ReplyDeleteI think Helen is the most unforgettable character in the story of Helen of Troy.
She is the most beautiful women in the world, every man wants to own her.
She falls in love with the prince Paris, but they can not together peacefully.
Struggling Helen cause the Troy War.
I think Helen is poor woman because she can not choose who she wants to be with and most people blame her and thought her cause the war.
So I think Helen is the most unforgettable character in the story.
Hi, Vinia. I'm Renee, No.99540312.
ReplyDeleteI think the most unforgettable characterin the story of Helen of Troy is Helen herself. Every description about Helen tells us that how beautiful she is and that no man on earth can ignore her beauty, which was even the cause of the war of Troy. I think is almost insane that two countries can be fighting just over a woman, although i did see it in other stories in Chinese culture that countries fight for a certain woman, i think it is very interesting, and i really want to know how exactly do those woman look like, specially Helen, the daughter of Zues, who was said to be the most beautiful woman on earth, which is why i think she is the most unforgettable character in the story.
Hello, i am Lilian 99540351.I'd like to talking about Helen.
ReplyDeleteHelen is the daughter of Zeus and the goddess Nemesis and she is the most unforgettable character in the story of the Helen of Troy.
As everyone knows that she is almost the beautiful woman in the world. Finally she found her dream man but caused the war of Troy because, Paris. I just wonder how charming did Helen was, because many men fell in love with her. This make me curious to know more about her.
Hi,Vinia.I'm Vicky99540323.
ReplyDeleteI would like to talk about Agamemnon, who is the most unforgettable character to me.
He was the brother of Menelaus and the husband of Clytemnestra. After he knew that the most beautiful girl, Helen, was going to marry his brother, he was so jealous. I think it is wrong for him to have this feeling, for he had a wife and children.
Helen ran away with Paris, and Menelaus asked him for a revenge. He was definitely willing to do so, since he was so ambitious. I think he just used it as a chance to fight against Troy, which he had longed for a long time. But they encountered an obstacle-wind, which is sent by Artemis, whom was angry at Agamemnon, for he killed her deer. And there was only way for them, that is, sacrificing Agamemnon's daughter. I am so suprised that he did what Artemis asked, kill her daughter. That is very unbelievable for me to accept that a father should sacrifice his own daughter just for a war, and he was not sure whether he would win or not. It is ridiculous to do that. I think he wasn't qualified to be a father.

ReplyDeleteThe Most Unforgetable Character in the Story of “Helen of Troy”
Hello Vinia, I'm Lulu (99540304)
I think that the most of unforgettable character in the story of the Helen of Troy is Helen.
because helen is this war's beginning.
Without her, the story can't be continue, will not be a movie and our homework.
In my opinion, Zeus is the most unforgettable character in the history of mankind. Even the christian God is less memorable to me than Zeus. Reasons why Zeus is the most unforgettable entity is because he simply does what he wants, what he likes, and what he pleases. Nothing is of limit to him. He is like an immature god that is playing "House" sitting on the top of Olympian mountain. To add to that, he is memorable to me because he can find a way to have sex with any female as he pleases.
ReplyDeleteHello, Vinia. I am Alien. 99540336
ReplyDeleteIn the film, the most impressed me character are Agamemnon and Menelaus. I think why do I have so impress on them is because I am so confused. They are brother but their relationship is so bad. I think Helen is the one of the reasons why their relationship become so bad. In my opinion, sibling should help each other and do their best do support their brother and sister. Agamemnon and Menelaus are out of my expectation about sibling.
I guess I have to say that the most unforgetful character in the story Helen of Troy is Helen, for the simple reason that the whole story is woven around her. Of course all the other characters in the story play equal important roles in the process of the story and such, but when all is said and done it's a story about her.
