Topic Eleven (2010/11/22~2010/11/29): Why is it so important to prove that Moses really existed and his miracles truely happened?
In "Who Was Moses?" (Discovery Channel: 2000), the narrator endeavored to find scientific evidence to prove that the events recorded in the Old Testament were true and that Moses really existed in history.
In the Chinese article cited bellow, there displays another modern effort to recreat the crucial scene in the Exodus in scientific experiment.

Hi, I am Rain(99540339). Actually, not only Jews, but many countries have tried hard to prove their history. Like us, we know there were three sovereigns and five emperors before Xia Dynasty, but still many historians doubt this, not only in our home country but also aborad, thinking that it's just a tale. However, many of us still firmly believe this, because this history sybolize the pride of a nation, or a race. Once the legend of Moses is proved, it could no longer be a legend. Only then can Jews claim their history proudly without doubt.

ReplyDeleteThe reason why many people want to prove that Moses really existed and the miracle truly happened is because he is the one who we believe to save Israelites. He is actually a hero in Israel, people in Isreal respect him and worship him. If Moses doesn't exist, people in Israel couldn't have their own freedom. ReplyDeleteIn my opinon, Mose save Israelites. Because of it, there have more and more histories. To lots of people, the history he made is really important. They wanted to know if he really excist, and if he really dis those amazing thing. Another reason may be that scientist are curious about the thing happend in Red Sea. It is so magnificant that even we us want to kown if it is true. Will it be possible for people to seperate a sea? Is there one can have such amazing power? I think maybe it is all because of our curiosity.

ReplyDeleteAccording to myself,the first thing I want to convey is that curiosity is surely one of the nature of humankinds,or there will be no more scientists to do researches,no more pilgrims to follow others' steps to their own god,and,of course,there will be no more electronic machines to benefit our lives;the second thing is that there were millions of disciples who believe in God faithfully,so they must intend to find the truth for the only God they believe in. And what these disciples could do is to find the evidences in the the Bible. Last but not least,such kind of questions are related to the issues of searching the unidentified objects in the outer space or even mysteries in the 51 district. Out of the instint of curiosity, we would do our utmost to engage in it, or even sacrifice. Take the 51 district for example, we would skepticize the president of the United States,Obama, why he doesn't just reveal the whole things to us instead of covering it. If it were not for this, curiosity, we wouldn't have everything that we got nowadays.

The bible the most powerful book in the world and almost 20 million people believed in it and read it every day.
On the base of that, people would want to know whether they believe in true or not.
Since our technology is becoming more and more precise and people are also becoming more and more rational, people want to use scientific experiment to prove that they have believed is true or not.
According to the film, almost every scientific experiment can correspond to what Exodus said.
If what Exodus said is true that people will more believed in their religion that is why it is important to know the Moses and his miracles is real.

Many people on the world keeps doubt the reality about Bible but the power of the religion is bigger than you and me expectation. The Christians want to prove their God is true and his book is true. He is such a hero deserving great worship. Even to this day, when it comes to Moses, many people may consider him to be the messiah. Therefor,it become important to dicover the authenticity of the miracles of Moses. If the miraculous feat were proven true, it would deepen people's worship toward Moses. Besides, Bible is the most significant masterpiece in the world, all the tales and figures in it are so interesting,mysterious,and somewhat ridiculous. ReplyDeleteMoses was a significant character in the Bible. He led Israelites to escape Africa and to cross the Red sea. From that moment on, Moses has become a hero and a God among Israelites. The story passes on. Although some descendants still worship Moses, others start to doubt the existence of Moses. To prove the authenticity of the story, scientists conduct research. Some followers come up with many possible reasons to justify the story. Unfortunately, we still can't find accurate answer. I think it doesn't matter to show whether Moses was a real person or not. If people have faith in God, if they can find consolation through praying, then it's enough. It's unnecessary to deeply dig into Moses's true identity.

ReplyDeleteThe reason why people think it's important to prove Moses really existed was that Moses was the messenger from God. Through Moses, God directly protected the people of Israel from harm, and kept them out of danger. For example, Moses led the people of Israel going across the Red Sea; with the help of God, they sucessfully got rid of the Egyptians. Furthermore, Moses brought the Ten Commandments from the Sini mountain, which God set for his people to obey. Without the Moses bringing the Ten Commandments to Israelites , people might not believe so much in God's existence. I think that's why Moses is so important to Christians or non-Christians.

He is the most important character in the Old Testament of Bible and his influence also affect to New Testament. Moses, who set the Israelites free, is a powerful leader of them. He led the Israelites into the promise land and told them the Ten Commandments. In Christianity, these commandments are the rules of a Christian. If those miracles were not the truth and moses had never existed, people believed in the religion would not have faith in God anymore. If those miracles were all truth, people would think that the God will always be with them and help them when they are in need just like the stroy in Exodus. ReplyDeleteMoses represented a very vital character in the Bible. According to the Bible, he was a religious leader, who was respected and honored very much. Killing an Egyptian slave-master, he led his followers to pass across the Red Sea. This legend had remained unproved for centuries, and it made the believers be puzzled whether or not it was a truth. However, evidence showed that the myth was just a nature phenomenon, and it was not led by Moses’ power. I guesses the outcome might make some people be depressed as well.

ReplyDeleteI think the reason why people think it's important to prove Moses really existed was because he accomplished God’s mission－Lead the Israelites out of Egypt to prevent them from being hurt by the Egyptians. We all know that this is a famous historic event in Bible, which even be made into a movie. As a result, out of curiosity, people want to know more about its origin, process and result. I think when we believe in something or somebody; we’ll feel that it’s true or real. Usually, it’s more eloquent if there is some evidence to prove and support the saying. Besides, Bible is a vital book in western history, so it’s necessary for the historians to further research it.

Through Moses, God protected Israelites not to get harm, so they eventually made it. His amazing deeds make everyone curious about whether it was true or not. If it were true, would it happen again? I think we human want to know the truth through technology, and want to see if it can apply to our life. So, they want to find out how Moses separated Sea of Reed. Did he do that by his super power? Or did he do that by something? I think those are reasons why it is important to find out whether Moses is real or not!

ReplyDeleteMoses led the Exodus of the Hebrew people out of Egypt and across the Red Sea, after which they based themselves at Mount Sinai and compassed the borders of Edom. It was at this time that Moses received the Ten Commandments. Despite living to the age of 120 given in the Bible, Moses died before reaching the Land of Israel. We can see how God build a person into a great leader from Moses’ whole life. As for his miracles, it depends on who believe him or not. It’s stupid for people who wanted to try to across the Red sea, because he/she is human not the God.

I think why people want to find out the truth,Maybe there are two possiblity, One: they have week faith to God so they want to find more stronge porve to relieve their heart Two: They don't believe God , in order to prove there's no God , they intend to discover the Miracles. I think that the scientist might have to think twice before they pose their research , The Red sea that Moses had passed have apparent sign !!! when the sea level had gone down , two side were become a high wall !!! that is definetly a Miracles not a nature sign !! Moses can also represent the existence of God from my viewpoint. Because of God’s help, Moses was able to done those miracle things and successfully set his people free. In addition, Bible supports a large amount of people. It’s related to people’s life, and can’t be separate.
I think the disciples would surely want to prove that what they had believed is real. If anyone can prove that Moses was really existed, then their belief will be more firmly and will have absolute faith on God. Also, they might be proud of their religion and encourage more people to join them.

He separated the red sea and then led the Israelites to pass it without being drowned so that they could have freedom from Egyptian. And my answer is : Well, in my opinion, those who endeavor to find out if Moses were a real person are those who believe in him. They are what we call the disciples. They want to prove that the person whom they believe in is true and that they make the most intelligent choice. However, there are still no certain answers. Although the scientists have discovered this situation may happen but we still can’t make sure. But in my personal opinion, I think Moses was a real man and the miracles he performed in reality were real. He was really a great guy who made the great lead to his people.

If Moses never existed, they acted like fools because they worshipped a nobody for so long. So many scientists pour much effort into the research on the miracles, and recently, it’s said that those things he did may be possible. I think the bible wants us to know that Jesus really have strong power and he gave it to Moses. That’s the reason why it is so important that everyone wants to think Moses is a real person. If everyone has the thoughts that Moses is a real person, in my opinion, they will also think Jesus is their only god (because only the god has such power to give human power to separate the sea) and will have the strong belief in Christianity.

First, some people might be uncertain about their religion, so they want to clear the doubts so that they could be more devoted to the religion. The religious followers want to confirm the reality and to be in the right and self-confident when talks about their religion. I think scientists wanted to prove that Muses didn't let the sea split in a half because they thought that it was not logical. They wants people know that what they believe is just a myth like a fairytale. However,miracles go beyond logic and human's intelligence. We can only predict what might happen thousands of years ago. Only by seeing the miracle can we really give an exact answer to the miracle that Moses practiced.

ReplyDeleteA lot of the events discribed in the Bible are probably rather hard to trace back, especially those in the Old Testament. But for some people it is sometimes hard to truly believe, just because someone tells them to. Some people need at least some sort of evidence that they can grasp, and that might be the proof that Moses really existed, because if he did then the rest of the Bible stories are more likely to be all true.
